The Glock 44 is a .22 LR (Long Rifle) rimfire model based on the Glock 19. While the Glock 44 is similar in size as the Glock 19, the Glock 44 has a magazine capacity of 10 rounds and uses a simple blowback mechanism instead of a locked breech mechanism used on nearly all other Glock pistols. In addition, the Glock 44 is lighter than the G19, weighing in at just 12 ounces, and it retains Glock's popular polygonal rifling, which has been tested by Glock to work with lead .22 bullets. It uses a steel/polymer composite slide due to the lower slide mass required to function with the less powerful cartridge. The 44 features the company's proprietary "Safe Action" trigger and a footprint so exact that holsters made for the 19 or 23 are interchangeable with the 44.
